Oslobođenje - article from today

click on the image to enlarge it

Hej Folks - here is an article from the newspaper "Oslobođenje" that I bought today and - surprise - the interview and the performance has been published :) I like the photos and the article is very good written - there are few little mistakes so for the record :

1. It should be Milan Tutunovic insted of Milan Trifunovic :/ who influenced my work...
2.I did the Tibetan mandala all day long (in Lyon) and not 3 hours - I do mine about 3 hours...
3. The majority in Bosnia are 3 people (3 religions) but we have more than 3 (not just 3)... :)

Otherwise it is very good :) and I do like it.

cube, cubes, cubis, cabis and so on...

1, 2, 7, 22, 67, 202, 607, 1822, 5467, 16402, 49207 ...and so on ;)

In geometry, a cube is a three-dimensional solid object bounded by six square faces, facets or sides, with three meeting at each vertex ( it is a regular hexahedron) and about the the five Platonic solids and the cube as one of them I will not speak here...

In art, a cube is just an illusion, a perfect and infinite form and the only reason why it exist is to challenge the mind of an artist. The cube is the plenarily idea of a mosaic, a puzzle that has to be transformed into an artwork.

In geometry and in art two cubes are a problem. One is always bigger, the color is not the same, in perspective we see the first one more than the second one. Too many options with to many variables. Two cubes become mostly some kind of a braniac, super mandala.

One day I will try it in real:
One cube become two, two becomes seven, seven becomes twenty two; and twenty two becomes sixty seven, sixty seven become two hundred and two; and two hundred and two becomes six hundreds and seven and so on...
in to the material infinity!

Sculpture-fobia, sculpture-mania

Hallo people, I can say for myself that I am an artist, but I am also a sculpture-maniac, so my disease is sculpture-mania... If you do not have any sculptures in your environment you must be a sculpture-fobiac :)

Here is a photo what I do with my sculptures (you can see the front of my studio and I can guarantee you that it will be more)...

Cheers

Opening night - 24.12.2005

The exhibition was hold for the national holly-day (the 25th of November) - the day of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was open by the director of the gallery Strajo Krsmanović, by the director of the association of artist Irfan Hozo and by the Prime Minister of the department of Sarajevo Besim Mehmedić (if I have translate his position right - "premijer kantona Sarajevo". 108 authors were attending with over 180 works - the most were 2 dimensional.

On the photos below you can see the installation during the exhibition and on the second photo you can see the director of the association of artists Irfan Hozo during his speech and the amount of visitors behind and around him and on the last two photos you can see my installation just after building it and the try to make the TV work together with the DVD player (finally someone makes it work) .

Here you can see again some details from the installation (01. - my belt with the skretch and the name of the performance, 02. the plastics bags with the ancient mandalas that has been destroyed, 03. I put also the tools for constructing the mandala and in the back is the TV (working), where the spectators could see the videos (the performance itself) from Zagreb and Nebocaj.

Bosnian life is a unwanted mandala - part 3

The third part of my performance project has started - on 23.11.2009 between 10 am and 2 pm I have with a lot of help from Marie CASTEL and Melda EMIROGLUE build again a mandala carpet. This time there have been some new aspects - the project is developing. New artifacts have been introduce into the whole installation. My belt is placed in front of the carpet, I started to write a little text about what I felt during the process. My belt broke in 3 pieces (strange) and I have made for the first time a scratch that I placed in front of the mandala, because I changed some colors and forms, too. The responsible man for putting up the whole exhibition was really boring - and he put me in a corner.

The final performance will be hold on the last day of the exhibition (05.12.2009) - I will of course place some photos. The new thing is that I will build an urn for each mandala (for the moment they have been placed in plastic bags and each time this plastic bags with datum and place are placed somewhere near the TV / LCD). In this urn I will also place this text about how I felt during making the mandala. So here are the photos :

This mandala is a work I presented in the gallery "Collegium Artisticum" in Sarajevo during the "Revijalna izložba" exhibition organized by the association of artist of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ULUBiH). About the exhibition I found some short articles in Bosnian language and the newspaper "Oslobođenje" published the article with the photo of my performance in Zagreb (of course nobody wrote my name anywhere...) - by the way here is the link to the article - click here - and here is that image made during the Max Art Fest in Zagreb.

Latin Bridge

Latin Bridge (Bosnian: Latinska ćuprija, named Principov most - "Princip Bridge" in Yugoslavian era), is a historic bridge over the River Miljacka in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The northern end of the bridge was the site of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria by Gavrilo Princip in 1914, which became a casus belli of World War I.

Interview for the paper "Zarez"

Here is the article / interview from the newspaper "Zarez" (Croatia / Zagreb) - it is an interview made by Suzana Marjanic with me during the Max Art Fest about my performance there (written in croatian language).

Suzana, thank you very much for this nice interview and also a special thank to the Max Art Fest and to Ivana Percl and Leo Katunaric.

Mandala at the MaxArtFest in Zagreb

In October I was in Zagreb at the Max Art Fest (I wrote already about it - click here to see it) and here is the detailed version about it :

The first performance was made near Sarajevo (click here to read the post - Bosnian life is an unwanted mandala) and like the first one I started also in Zagreb with a drawing. But before I could draw it I had to transport all my materials to Zagreb (The colored sand could be a problem at the border, because it looks like a fancy new drug, but I had luck - nobody took me enough serious to search my car :)... Here are few photos about the material I drove in the back of my old Ford.

Than in Zagreb I started with my drawing (chalk on ground)

After the drawing with a lot of help from my cousin and his fiance (Robi and Tena) we made the mandala during 3 hours of intensive work and the people could watch us (during / by doing it), ask questions and it was a quite interesting experience to do it.
Special THANX to Robi and Tena...

During the construction of the mandala there was in the background a big LCD. On it the people who has not time to come back to the main act of the performance could see the first performance that I did in Nebocaj, near Sarajevo.

At 9 PM the main act begun and after a little speech of 3-5 Minutes I started to do what every human normally do if they has a carpet - I started to clean the carpet with my vacuum cleaner but this carpet is my mandala, so you can clean it only once.

In the end I put everything from the vacuum cleaner to a bag, write a name on it (the date and the place) and this will be shown with the video I made during the next exhibition where I will do my third of 28 performances. You can click on each image to enlarge it and to see it better. For futher information if needed you can also contact me via email.

The next performance will be at the end of November (26. or 27.) here in Sarajevo at the "REVIALNA IZLOŽBA" in the gallery "Collegium Artisticum" organized by the association of artist in BiH. You are welcome to come.
Cheers
Dzenan

Drawing of M

There is a man dancing around a big bronze sculpture,
he wears a hat,
in his right hand a bottle of wine,
a bohemian rhapsody is his destiny,
and his name,
so famous name,
even Mr. Renoir knew it.

Cheers, Mr. M this is my lady
just a sketch and when I know her soul I will paint her once for ever!
Like you did just before you died with your Lady!
Cheers Mr. M et aller on y va ;)

Artists and tedium

When a poet is bored, he writes, a hacker hacks, a British drinks tea and what do an artist who is bored? ...
I do not know...
I do repaint with graffiti the walls of my flat...

Cheers
