Hope and passion
Once more the ALL BLUE. When the great beyond, the headline, the smell of finish is headed for you, you feel it coming .It is like some kind of sixth sense .So maybe you should start before it comes to ask yourself what’s the one thing you’ve always dreamed of doing before you die?It’s an event, big or small, something that changes us. Something that keeps going on and show us new ways, ideas and… Ideally it gives us hope. A new way of living and looking at the world, the friends, ourselves. Letting go of old habits, old memories. What’s important is that we never stop believing that we can have a new beginning. Some people really do, but the most just believe that is possible! Van Gogh did it and in the end he shoot himself, but if hasn’t start over a new beginning, he would have shoot himself much earlier and nobody would notice it! But it’s also important to remember that amid all the crap are a few things really worth holding on to.
As artist there are so many things we have to know. We have to know what it takes. We have to know how to take care of different techniques. And how to take care of each other. Eventually we even have to figure out how to take care of ourselves .As artist we have to be in the know. But as human beings, sometimes its better to stay in the dark. Because in the dark there’s maybe fear…
… but there’s also hope.

Yes, that's the one thing I remember that I asked you when I went to your studio. So when I wrote my previous email, I was asking myself if I would write "you are a sculptor" or "you make sculptures":) It's a big difference. As a result you spotted back the "problematic" point :) - kind of great. So I meant "you make sculptures", and I mentioned the Musee du quai Branly.
To see lots of good works is just so important. Some people say that artists don't need see other people's works, just create. But I don't think so. We are at the edge of the history, we can't stand away from it. Good eyes are formed by seeing good things, and through good works we can always absorb something. Sometimes we even change the way of thinking - it's a great thing for me.
Before I hated Chagall, I couldn't stand his just romantic, egoistic, poetic boring world. But when I stayed in Paris for 6 months, I had to see lots of his drawings (for work). And one day I was suddenly awared why there are those who appreciate his works, and I noticed what they saw and what they liked on his works, which I didn't see before. It was a shock for me and a good experience. I don't LOVE his works, but now I can accept and I understand those who adn why they like Chagall. These kind of 'influence' is very interesting, and it allows me to find another aspect of myself. So I think this kind experiecnce (=growing up) will be very important for those who create something (=artists). That's why I said to go see lots of good works, I don't say how your artworks are or copy of something.
And through my cons/rest study, I wasn't really surprised at anything in europe about their techniques. I thought Jap people are quite high as technicians. We are more patient, not agressive, it might be good for conservators. But the only and the biggest thing I thought we jap can never beat is french or british people really had good opportunitiy to see good works. They know what is good (....). If we don't know real good works, we can't know the goal = we can't "finish" the work. Especially for conservators, the goal is not from my personal intention, but the goal must be where it should be - we need to find the answer from our history and 'educated' aesthetic sense.
