You cannot save the world without saving yourself first

You can save the world and keep going to school – nobody will mention it ever, because no one will know it!

You can save yourself and become the hero you always wanted to be, because everybody want to become like you!

The beginning of the universe started with a little light in a big darkness, what do you think why do we need millions of printed pages to explain this sentence – only what you have to do is to believe! Then the truth is not someone out there it is in you!

Do you need a brain surgery to recognize that you have a brain??

Last days I saw the early works from David Lunch (you can download it here / Eraserhead here) and let me say once: You cannot save the world without saving yourself first!

*The aquarell (first I ever made) is my soulmate Marie Castel ;)

Brain surgery with use-by date

Invention
Discovery
Recovering
Confidence
Prosperity
Resolve
Determination
Guarantee
Courage
Iron Will

and much more is what make us excellent surgent, artist, driver, lawyer, conservator!

Today much more success has people with patience, stamina, perserverances, endurance, hardiness and staying power also if they stay against their will!

But what make us such great and big that our work will not have a use-by date is humanity and love and honesty to confess if we are not sure and if we are in the progress of searching and finally if we never give up learning more and the feeling that we no matter how old we are we can always learn something new!

Only then our surgery will not have a use-by date and our patient will live enough to speak about us to his/her chinldren and grandchildren. "You can play a guitar on a painting" is my work in pastel I did few days ago!

Do we aim for anything right???

Basis of the human life is mostly asking questions. Man perhaps lived once upon a time, but evolution however took him up to the perfection of existence, supremacy over all living creatures of this small planet we inhabit and thereby initiated the circle of one purpose only, the purpose of its own destruction in order to start living again in some other form and not asking yourself so many question.

Indeed, there are people who are only living, whose questions, if asked, are basically consisted of larger percent of reply itself and the message within the question, far less they question something that nobody will ever conceive without meaningless ???????? reply makes the person asking even more miserable than he or she already is. Romanticized, poetic perception of those people are gypsies, nomads and Don Quixote in a way, even though the real freedom of living without asking, constant searching and enjoying the same belongs exclusively to artists. We have the freedom to have the answers we offer be spitted and absolutely denied without ever stop offering those answered, for still, sooner or later people come who understand the offered and become satisfied with the illusion we use in order to explain constant questions.

It is said that the largest mysteries we will never perceive are soul, god and love and I will hereby offer one solution that you can erase from your memory the moment you read it, solution that you can belittle, agree with or totally reject it and repulsively ask your self why have you read this. However if you have reached this point, than I guarantee you that this sentence is your last chance to stop reading for the following few lines may open your eyes wider than you have ever imagined or may close them forever, redirect them, but you will not whatsoever stop reading this until you reach the last full stop and my name behind it!

Soul, god and love are so called mysteries tried to be found out and perceived for as long as there is need for perception, understanding and asking questions. Many books were written, many kilometers and generations of forests and virgin forests had to kneel down before human need to explain, understand, explore, question and spread what was found out, but the answers, i.e. perception of these so called mysteries can be written on the palm of a hand. First thing is first, people are afraid of all unknown, and very few people are afraid of love, own soul or god, even though god is all-mighty, love is universal and soul is a piece of god and of love. God is all we aspire to, what we saw shall crop up, as learned through centuries, if towards evil we aim, evil shall find us, because, ultimately, we all exist and ask the same and want to be happy forever, and the happiest we are when give and receive love, therefore, love is also something we aim for, we pursue for, something that will fill us with joy and calm our soul which is pursuing, rebelling and only wants to be what it is, not what others expect it to be, or said differently, as soul is what makes us who we are, we are the soul and we are the happiest when we do not pretend, therefore, soul is also something we aim for, because when we become who we are, we become happy, we find god, we grant and accept love except asking ourselves million questions a day, it is quite enough to be who we are, to accept what is offered to us and to live, as sometimes you do not need to destroy everything to start all over again. We artists know this the best!!!

* every day thousand kilometers forest has to die to give to the humans something they can read on the toilet, they change nothing, the information they get change nothing, millions of any valuation get printed to pay the information that will reach our warm homes and every morning when we sit on the toilets we kill few centimeters of a forest that once we will need much more than the newspapers and catalogues we read, the toilet paper we use, money we pay and money we get to buy more toilet paper and to read more CNN/BBC culture (see the world with our eyes – manipulation and big brother on every printed site)!

Join me in death

Today is the third day after my birthday and actually it is a normal day. But (also) actually it don t exist a normal day in the land with the tightest pooled of assholes in the whole world or I can say in the parts of the world I know!!!

I really like the word “actually” and actually should today beee (with 3 “e”) a good day. Not because I slept very good, also not because I had a very nice dream and even not because I have recurrent very good sex and not because it is the third day after my birthday or because it is sunny and the weather is beautiful – today it should be just a good day but statically every fourth day here is a bad day, and not because the appointments I have made last week are forgotten, also not because the scholarship I should receive is again few days/weeks/months late and also not because there is nobody I could speak toooooo – it is just a bad day!

In a manner of speaking YES I have like everyone else bad days, but this time it seems to be different. It feels like blues and the painting I have made is the blues “Join me in death” – in the land of assholes, but the people are not bad, they are just different and my friends, the friends I have gather on my journey to “JAH” are gone and almost far away and there is nobody I could speak to! I speak trough my art-works but is anyone listening???

Can we - asking in progress?

Can we do the right thing? Can we choose between what is good and what is bad? Or do we actually choose what we like and not what really matters? Do we feel what we want? Do we want what we feel? And are we happy when we choose? And do we think we did the right thing? Can we live without lying? And can we spend our life without lying ourselves? Can we stop thinking how it would be when it would be? Can we accept the fact that we really don’t know? And can we accept the fact that not everyone is good? And if we accept that fact than can we live with it without asking ourselves where we belong?

Can an Artist imitate the life? Or do he only what the life wants, because he is a part of it, if he is? Can an artist create life with his works? Is art life? Is an artist a human being like you and me? Are we all the same? And if yes can we life like this? And if not can we life with the fact that some of us are better? And if there is better or worse, than who can decide what is better? And how we know that he is right?

Can you live without asking yourself billions of things and do you think that you can live without?

The life was his art

Underlying should the art be something positive. Something going under the brain, between the skin and the whole world around us, it should feels good! It should be the firs kiss, the dream of a summer night and it should drive you crazy! There are people outside that you can shock easily, others never, but the life will always find the way to shock and to make the people happy. So when we (the artist) imitate the life than we have the choice – Are we the part of life that just try to scare, shock and make people sad, feels bad and try to forget and never feel this way or are we more the unforgotten artist try to show to the world the life can be so fine, that every morning we can be what we ever want to be, because actually we mostly already are…We can explain like Buddha did, that everything happens because it is the way to reach something much more positive…

This art-work is a Picasso-lady looking on the 21st century and being ARIVVA and happy to see the artist of the 21st century, the Artist King, McDreamy and the one who will never give up the art, because the art will never give up him! You have to fight for what you want and not against!

Hope and passion

Once more the ALL BLUE. When the great beyond, the headline, the smell of finish is headed for you, you feel it coming .It is like some kind of sixth sense .So maybe you should start before it comes to ask yourself what’s the one thing you’ve always dreamed of doing before you die?

It’s an event, big or small, something that changes us. Something that keeps going on and show us new ways, ideas and… Ideally it gives us hope. A new way of living and looking at the world, the friends, ourselves. Letting go of old habits, old memories. What’s important is that we never stop believing that we can have a new beginning. Some people really do, but the most just believe that is possible! Van Gogh did it and in the end he shoot himself, but if hasn’t start over a new beginning, he would have shoot himself much earlier and nobody would notice it! But it’s also important to remember that amid all the crap are a few things really worth holding on to.

As artist there are so many things we have to know. We have to know what it takes. We have to know how to take care of different techniques. And how to take care of each other. Eventually we even have to figure out how to take care of ourselves .As artist we have to be in the know. But as human beings, sometimes its better to stay in the dark. Because in the dark there’s maybe fear…

… but there’s also hope.

Right know

This post I devote to the great people in Hollywood, Bollywood, Disney, Warner’s, other Film makers, Photo Artist, Mr. Spielberg and even to Sarajevo Film Festival…the Performance Artist and all Artists around the world and in the whole universe, because if there is life out there, than they will probably do art also!
And I devote this post also to my little, cute girlfriend, than today s here birthday! Happy birthday sweetie – love You…

At the moment I am doing / working on 4 sculptures / masks here in Avignon and hope to finish 2 in few days! The next project will be than a video I already planed long time ago, but hadn’t the time to make it and this is actually funny – but we mostly spend so many days without knowing what we do, but still not doing some stuff we actually wanted always to do! – sound familiar???

This works on this post I did long, long, long time ago and what really funny is I can not even remember why I did this – because they are such full of negative energy – like out world today with one sentence of hope and today, so many years after I can say because I know and because I have survive that whatever happens – once it will passed by / end!

Art stay, artist die, artist live forever if his art reach the free mind of humanity, but the only real immortality and ecstasy an artist will only have if he makes his art independent of what the people say and because he want it like this, still ART IS A SERIOUS WORK, like Brancusi said: Work like a slave, think like a god and live like human – and this is the statement – the receipt of being artist with one little plus – BE YOUR WORK, LOVE IT AND BE IT, than maybe, and only than someone will listen to you!

East, South, West and North

Inspirited by the comments from my last post I have decide to devote this post to my nakama that comment on my blog (andrej, Milvus, Ace alias Elizzzzzabeth, Martino, jamie, magdalene-sophie, andy, Tomo san, ismir and the anonymous man with the iron mask )...

The last statement was "ABANDON ALL ART NOW", but still if I could I would never do it!! Why? Let me tell you the story of the four sculptures U see on left; the "four" Musketeers, the first mixed media adventures I fight trough on my way to the journey to ALL BLUE!

"Hurru, don t be sooo pathetic...,"were his last words and than he just disappeared. I was standing there with my gavel in the right hand and in the left my chisel. Beside me thousand of violins were playing, a storm was coming and I was left alone, right behind the row material; a sunny white marble, a granite as black as pitch, some sand- or freestones in yellow and red nuances and a lot of mature wood also known as timber or lumber from the finest walnut trees in Bosnia.

One human with tools of iron made by humans, but with the will much stronger than iron made by god was standing there with shine in the eyes and nothing less than a decision. The clouds over him turned over, colored dark and start to push one over the other making such frightening sounds of thunder, a wind was coming up, creating a sensation with the dust from the ground, the rain collected his summer power to raiding the earth every moment, the angels flown higher to escape the mother natures tempers, a shadow covered the little human standing out there and than he turned.

One sunshine found his way throw the clouds for a second and shine on the boys face and the only act visible at this moment was his smiling, his arrogant but fascinating smiling. It seems to be arrogant but there was nothing arrogant or egocentric in it. It was just a smiling like every smiling when a person decide some big decisions in his life, like a 6 year old girl that decides not to be more afraid and to take the frog in her hand or the 13 year old boy that kiss the girl in front of him!

It was a Sunday morning, middle summer like 2 years ago! The angels flown away and my ego talk to me the last time since then..."Hurru, don t be sooo pathetic!"
And than I just stop to think, what will happen - I decide for me to become the Artist King, to ride the snake, the big wave, to make the waves if you like, a tsunami like, to be the nature, because also human are a part of nature, to transform the form, to find the transcendental bridge where a man become a stone, where the sword don t cut to proof his ability, where the light exist because the dark exist, where everything is possible, where the people have dreams, because the people are dreams and living without one must be the hell on earth, like living without a life!
It was the summer when I agree to come to Avignon, where I met a lot of very good Nakama, it was the day written by God himself, the day known in past as the faithfully day - IT WAS THE DAY I MADE THE FOUR SCULPTURES UP THERE, and why?
Because I stopped to be pathetic and just did it!

And now someone say me that he could kill the art. Sorry, but I won t die and ART NEITHER!

The Artist King and his Nakama

As known we all have dreams that we lose on our way to the "ALL BLUE" (Heaven, Paradise, The End or however you choose to call the end of the life we use to live right now).

On the way to there we find some Nakama (Japanese word for someone who follow you, a friend or a companion). Even if we where fighting all the time they can still be our friends and people who will tell the story of us once we have rich the "ALL BLUE" and leave the grand line behind us.

And it is funny but sometimes we have to fight to understand that we actually go in the same direction and this is not because it s the only way we can go - it s because we have choose to go that way. And at this point we have made our decision and it s not important when we will reach the ALL BLUE as long as we are trying and not forgetting our dreams and our Nakama.

One day I will become an immortal fighter for art, searching for the truth and the one ideal form to explain the most livable emotion that we have once long time ago split into so many emotions like love, pain, freedom, anger, friendship... agony and ecstasy and it doesn’t matter if I will find this form on my way, because the searching for it will enqueued me beside Michelangelo, Leonardo, Picasso and van Gogh as long as I don t stop trying to find it!

The artist has to move, he will always let some tracks behind him, some Nakama will follow, some will left, some will turn to enemies of him and his art, he will meat interesting people and some will become new Nakamas of him, maybe join him on his journey to the ALL BLUE and the Valhalla of Artist where the other Titans are waiting for him or they will stay and go ahead their way to their ALL BLUE .

And once you are on your way to your dream don t forget your Nakamas, because without them you will probably reach your finish line alone and than celebrate completely alone and finally die, but the real death is when you get forgotten and without any Nakamas telling your story and remembering you and your work why you have go your way? And there is one more thing, if you ever try to become the Artist King or the King of whatever your dream is about don t forget that your Nakamas has their own dreams, too, probably going the same way with their own reasons...

So if I can tell you that little story about the life and beeing an Artist on my own way to my own Valhalla I am happy and corious if I will meet some interesting people with the same dream as I have – The Artist King in ALL BLUE, beside Fidie, Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, Ingres, van Gogh, Gogen, Picasso, Pollock and the other Artist Kings that has rules the world before me..

The wizard has returned to Avi

ARTIST vs. ART (You buy a piece of me and I buy a piece of paradise)

" to Dzenan; I do not agree with you when you say that works of art are parts of the artist.Well, the thing is i think that A work of Art is alive for it self and once finished, done, the artist has to rethdraw from it, if not, he becomes obsesed with the image of his work, and there megalomania is being borned.." - said Milenko (a performance artist).

Yes a sentance like that one because i am lucide of the dagerous sides of the performance you do not own you work Art is not about the Artists, it is about beauty and philosophy triping. We do all of those shit beacuse we are obsesed with ourselves till that point that we become inlove with our personalities. Look at Andy Goldsworthy - the best example of deatechment from his work..See the whole conversation by clicking here

I have never made performance art! But anything else I guess and once I know - during my work if I do not involve a piece of me or mostlyall of me the result is crap and it looks like the art from just like the millions of other wannebes in this big battlefield of art. The good point is that however and howoften I invest some piece of me into my work I recieve much more back from it self. I agree that once the work is finish it is alive for it self, but still there is a piece of me inside and I am proud of it and than one finished when I look at it I know I have gave my best and that is the only important thing. It doesn t matter what you do - it s about giving yourself away and doing it the best way you can without any compromises. And that is what Art is about, to close the circle of life, to tell stories and to makes the world a more beautyful place to live. And it s about hard work and love, about deep emotions and clearly mind it s about you and me and all of us until we reach once the ultimate "ALL BLUE" or the "ONE PIECE" that we are searching for since ever and allways.

Perspective or "Per spectrum"

The word PERSPECTIVE has his provenance from the "latein" word "Per spectrum" (engl; for the observer / public or SPECTATOR - even public as viewer) . And this little word was the these for my diplom work at the academy of fine arts in Sarajevo.

The painting on the right side is not from this period. It is a painting I just started and it is a WORK IN PROGRESS - or we could say this work has his perspective to be finished. Today we could say that this work is Picasso - like, or we could treat it like shit and like what the hoi polloi love to say about contemporary art :"...it is like the fairytale from Hans Christian Anderson The Emperor's New Clothes...", but today you are free to think and to say what you think - so I am also free to make every kind of art I want.

Or?

The people have depand of region where they live different point of view, diverse culture and also variable understanding of "what is good, what is beautyful - even what is art". We could say depand where one art-work is made and WHEN it will become a symbol for so many several points of view!

Imagine that Michelangelo has made his David (the great symbol of the indipendent Florence - the emblem for a Staate, the tag for an epoche) not on the beginning of the 16th century. What for would David implies if Michelangelo has made him 500 years later like some scenography sculpture for the movie Sin City? Would David be the same symbol if he would be a god sculpture in the city of Gomorrah in the period of Noah when : "For the sins of their inhabitants Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim were destroyed by "brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven"...? Would it be the emblem of a revolution, of beeing proud, of freedom and indipendens? Probably the perspective of this work would change like the meaning of all my works change from day to day, from minute to minute, from moment to moment - or should I say from happening to happening. Do you think a video-art with a bird has the same meaning 10 years ago like today or few months ago when the bird-flow was really actual?

*I will publish my diplom work with more comperations between Michelangelo, Picasso, new new world and myself on my new website before the 10th.03.2007

Indian blues

I just finished this painting "Indian blues" and I want to rewrite down what I felt during the working progress and why I made this autoportrait of me :

The airport terminal B72 somwhere in the southern France was waiting for me, the wind blows strong, the train-station is closed and I have to stay few nights in Marseille. I was searching for some free rooms in the high season, but my views were like dismal outlook.
So I took a look around, see which way the wind blow and I know it is not the way to the girls in their bungalows :)

Than I saw her...
I see her hair is burnin' and the hills are filled with fire. I never saw a woman like her, fill with pain and desire..

So I took the ride, the wild fire in her desire, I felt the rising, the emotion so amazing, the monitor lizard on my back and her cold hand on my neck. The next few days I stayed at her place and the only thing I saw was her face. I have never know her name or where she is from! She could be
a lucky little lady in The City of Light, she could be my futured Bright, she could, but I just took a powder and than I was gone. She lagged somewhere behind without knowing my name or where I was from, even where I will go. One second during this time I felt that I never saw a woman like her, fill with pain and desire with the hair burnin' and the hills filled with fire and in this second I just looked like on my painting called "Indian blues" staying in front of her and I am sure that she just saw me like this when she looked at me staying there in her room.

*Indian blues" will be one of few paintings in mixed media on the theme "the risin` days before Avignon 2005"

Conceptual POST translated by Systran 5

Like on this photo (my first conceptual minimalism land art work) the post here will be written in german than translated in english from the translation software Systran 5 and I will use the normal language without too complicated sentences but also not to easy and small combinations. (All errors and wrong translation will not be corrected)

"This first work of art in this form is not to state anything on the first view. In later view it goes around a two-dimensional form from the background stands out. So that a new dimension creates. Both with the coloured organization and with differentiated the surface. Whether I ignore now after this experiment to land kind, I do not believe. Which however are not called is which I now never work of art in this direction will create. It made very large fun, but except the photos nothing is remaining of the work of art. Those much snaps perishability lets itself nevertheless certainly still with different construction units out-hesitate."

translated by Systran 5 - not bad but very interesting experience, too

The LAST and the FINAL work

A shy friend of mine from Tokyo comment my blog very nicely (THANK YOU T.) but via e-mail and not in the comment area, so for my last work from the cycles "The woods of Bosnia" and the big final work I made today I just wanted to paste her words.

"Anyway I still have impression that your best material should be stone and we can feel a piece of YOU from stone sculptures best - I haven't seen you making artworks in front of me, but I think I can imagine with NO difficulty you making sculptures, but imagine you painting with a bit of other thoughts (worldly thoughts). It's really beautiful and touching to see an artist (or anybody maybe) making works or artworks instinctively or without any thoughts, maybe like Michelangelo who didn't MAKE sculptures but just freed a figure out of a mass of stone..."

On the left side is the last work of my cycle and right is the final work with some details and again the last work (in the right corner). The final work is called "between the borders" and it is the apsolute derived knowledge and experience that I collected during the period of growing with my art-works and I learned to treasure it and to integrate it in my life. I have start to close some circles and the final work is the "resume" and the road section from the beginning to the end of the last cycle "The woods of Bosnia".

I buy a piece of paradise and you buy a piece of me

Art versus commercial does not exist!

This week I have break my record – time in painting, yesterday I painted around 14h in one piece and it was like a little bit a trip. Yesterday I have made 7 painting in mixed media for bosnian people. The theme I choose are some buildings and exteriers from Bosna i Hercegovina. Only the last one with the elephants is a little bit more artisric – but WHY I AM DOING COMMERCIAL ART WORKS???

The answer is simple: When you live in a country with less standart and people pay for paintings around 100 – 200 euro, you have to make commercial art works. I do also not-commercial art works, but these works are then around 200 - 500 euro for a graphic (10 x 13,5 cm). For sculptures not less than 500 euro. But people here cannot pay this – the most people here work for 300 euro a month. So I have to make commercial art works to get money for the material to make not-commercial art works, but still in every work I integrate a piece of me and my art.

The dimension for this works are between 38 x 45 cm to 80 x 42 the longest one. The working period for this 8 works is one week, the material for every painting is between 40 – 100 euro (incl. the frame).

In the woods of Bosnia

One sculpture left. The “ash-girl” or “Mea culpa!” is the 11th sculpture in the cycle “in the woods of Bosnia” that I finished today. Every sculpture symbolize also a month in the 12 months cycle. Here is a photo from the “Mea culpa!” and an other one with all 11 sculptures.

All sculptures from this period are made with the same technique and with the same tools. And during this time I read “the notes from Leonardo da Vinci” and what the “Maestors said about art” from A.Gruber & A.Sidorova.

There they collected parts from different notes, letters and writings from a lot of artist from the period around 1500-1600 like what wrote Michelangelo to the pope or what thought Rafaello about Wall painting. And now I can say that this books has some influence in my work especially during the progress of this cycle.

But the inspiration was Jim Morrison and the doors!!!

cycle "in the woods of Bosnia"

The stockade place where my cycle is right now.

Close in the brain, prisoner of my own heart, hold in one body, hatched in bones with feeling and wish this painfully wish to touch the sun just once. My fatherland was the heaven, the paradise was in the mothers secured castle – the stomach. And now, naked – without weapons, close in this one mind, in this one brain with the dream of being two, with the dream of receiving back the heaven – the security – the freedom we have lost, the life we have received. And once when we give up the life (or when we lose it – or when the life give up us) we will be free again in this circle of being what we are – pure energy, light and dark, move and bee, two become one, one become ten thousand to be one again. This is the story of my sculpture cycles “in the woods of Bosnia” and the next two artworks are “the L.A. Woman” and “close in love”. Very soon I will finish my cycle of wooden sculptures.

L.A. Woman

During making this sculpture I ve listen to the doors - the song L.A. Woman - that is why the name of the sculpture is L.A. Woman and I ve make (draw with some machines) a face with a microphone (It is not a penis!!!). The thematic is mostly different, but I am sure that the last sculpture in this cycle will be again a face!

*Sculpture dedicated to Katja Hunning
