Memo
It is funny but hurts sometimes that you make something and than you found it on interent without any mention of your name :(
The site is here
It is also strange to try to google yourself - because I for example have found an article where a woman (the writer) use some of my words from my blog for the interview with a performance artist and friend of me Ervin Babic - to see the article in bosnian/croatian language - click here
By the way this writer was a pro because she has mention my name and my blog :)
I mean if anyone use anything from my blog or post any photos of my artworks should mantion my blog, my name etc!!!!
It sucks...
Cheers!

"Maxi" Newspaper / Sarajevo

From the newspaper "Maxi" here in Sarajevo (the article and the detailed photo below), about the Exposition "Salon mladih"(click the image to see jpg from the catalog - it is the catalogue on the left side)...
It is quite funny - in the article they write mostly about the people / artists who has won the price (it was 7 people / artists at all), but than on the photos from the exposition you can see actually only the 2 of the people / artists who has won.
I am happy, because they put my photo even when I have not won the price (it is a symbolic one, a written paper - diploma alike). and my papa is also on the photo :). Between us is the artist Meliha Teparic who makes great calligraphic artworks.. In the main title it is written "Prices for young artists"...
I am curious about the article that will be printed in the next two weeks about me in "Maxi" - (I gave an interview), so we will see how it will be (Dzenan the conservator) ;)
Cheers...

Bosnian life is an unwanted mandala
“Bosanski život je neželjena mandala“
(Bosnian life is an unwanted mandala)
a Performance developed and made by Dženan ŠEHIĆ
With this performance idea I have applied to ZVONO (see their website for details) and I did not want to relief any details about this performance on my blog before, but after almost 4 weeks since the application deadline is over I have decide to show it to you– In my opinion it is one of strongest artistic ideas I have ever head and it is a rare one I actually do like!
Before continuing to read you should inform you a little bit about the meaning of a MANDALA. The mandala form and their traditional meaning I used to compare with is an old version of a Tibetan mandala where the monks build their mandala just to destroy it - to become aware of their existence and their own passing by.
To be really aware a student monk should build and destroy 1000 mandalas! I say that the Bosnian, or Balkan life (even actually everyone's life in a way) have been an unwanted mandala. Whatever you do it will be destroyed one day and in the Bosnian life in the past few generations it was mostly twice destroyed during their life's! We, the people from Balkan are aware of our passing by and our existence!
To symbolize this I choose to build a mandala that represents a Bosnian carpet with one different s – in the middle I have put a circle (everything, the one, god, universe...) and 4 circle alike forms around it – the first 3 stands for the circle of life (birth, life and death) and the fourth one have a motive from the carpet on it and it symbolize the impact on ourselves – the memory / emotions or whatever that we take with us in the next life, the next stage, the heaven /hell or whatever follows!!!
I hope that you got my idea and here are a lot of photos from the performance and it s preparation (Marie CASTEL has helped me a lot with all the preparations).
Step 1 - preparation of the sand (including traditional coloration)!!!
Step 2 - building the MANDALA
Step 3 - and the final step - the performance (destroying the carpet-mandala with a vacuum cleaner)...
In detail : First: I walk in and change my shoes with some clogs and put away my jacket. I take the vacuum cleaner and star cleaning / destroying my carpet / mandala...
In the end all it is left behind is a little mountain of mixed sand who has transform his colors in one color: something between gray-violet...
I hope you enjoyed my performance experience STAGE ONE!
Cheers

Exhibitions and when will I be famous?

Here are 2 shots (the first one are the cover pages from the last two catalogs from the last two exhibitions from the artist association here in BiH, the second one are few snapshots from my two video-arts I made in 2005 and 2008 in Germany (Kronach and Erfurt), but in the catalog they put not the shown works (video), but 2 also shown graphics of me from the "Maria Mena" cycles - the 1 and the 2) - click on the number to see the images of the 2 works!
I can't answer, I can't answer this...
Maybe I am already somewhere, somehow, sometimes
or maybe not!
Was it worth?

Into the wild - the story of Alex Supertramp aka Christopher McCandless

So, here are all the graphics together in my own order (even if some of the events (from the movie) has not happened in this order. When I first saw the movie it was (for me) a very impressive one, and when I actually realized that it was based on a true story I had to find out more. So like everyone I started with the world wide web / internet. After few weeks of reading diferent blogs, critics, movie reviews and so on I had enough information about this very sad, but still great and inspiring story to start my own cycles about it. I have used photos I found on internet and that I found interesting from the movie, but also some shots from the real Christopher McCandless.
A very inspiring text about the story into the wild was written by Jon Krakauer in his article "Death of an Innocent"
How Christopher McCandless lost his way in the wilds
You may want to read the original article from Mr. Krakauer - so here is the link - click here .
Greetings to all of You!
